AVORA Trail Wagon

The car park is never next to the good spot. This is what closes that gap — one trip instead of four, with the cold drinks already on board and shade over the whole load.

In everyday use

You load it at the tailgate and pull it the rest of the way. A hundred and forty liters takes the cooler, the chairs, the windbreak and the bag nobody wanted to carry, and the fat wheels keep going where a narrow-wheeled cart stops — soft grass, loose sand, the rutted track down to the water. When you get there, the canopy earns its keep: it stands over the bed so whatever's inside stays out of the sun, and it lifts off in seconds when you'd rather not have it. Drinks go in the cup pockets, the cold food goes in the ice-pack frame, and the small things live in the lined pockets instead of at the bottom. Pull it with the long handle or swing the handle over and push it — both adjust, so it suits your height rather than the other way round. It folds to a slab about as deep as a suitcase and goes back in the trunk.

Canopy on and off in seconds
Hook-and-loop and snap fastenings hold the canopy over the bed and release it entirely when you want the load in the open.

Pull it or push it
The pull handle swings through 120° and the push handle rotates 180° at the press of a button, so you drive it from whichever end suits the ground.

Foot brakes
A pair of brake levers hold it where you put it, which matters on any slope and on a launch ramp.

Cooler bag included
An aluminum-framed cooler bag holds 35 cans, keeps them cold for three to four hours, and has a leak-proof lining and a removable cover.

Somewhere for everything
An ice-pack frame, two cup pockets and lined interior pockets keep the small things off the floor of the bed.

600D steel-framed build
Q235 steel tube with a 1.1 mm wall carries the double-layer 600D PU-coated Oxford body.

Why we chose it

A wagon is one of those purchases that looks unnecessary right up until the first time you use one. We chose this one because it handles the two things that usually go wrong: the wheels are wide enough for the surfaces people actually cross to reach a beach or a pitch, and the canopy means the load doesn't sit in full sun for four hours. The cooler bag being sized to the bed rather than bought separately is the sort of detail that decides whether a thing gets used. And it collapses properly — flat, into a trunk, without a fight — which is the only reason a wagon stays in the household rather than in the back of the garage.
