You pull one bag out of the truck, and twenty minutes later there's a bed waiting. Not a mat on the ground — a proper bed, up off the cold, with the walls already around it.

In everyday use

This is the kit for the trip you decided on at short notice. Everything that would normally be four separate purchases arrives as one long duffel: the cot, the shell that goes over it, the mattress, the bag, the pillow, the pump. Nothing gets forgotten because nothing is packed separately. Set up, it sleeps one at 76 inches long, high enough off the ground that you're not lying on tree roots and not reaching for a dropped headlamp in the dirt. When the weekend ends, the poles break into four sections, the whole thing folds back down flat, and it goes into the bag it came out of. It suits fair-weather camping — the fabric is water-resistant rather than waterproof, so this is a summer-and-shoulder-season piece, not a storm shelter.

Tent, cot, air mattress and sleeping bag travel and pitch as a single unit, so there's one thing to load and one thing to remember.

A bed, not a groundsheet
The cot stands 17 inches clear of the ground, which keeps you off cold, damp, uneven earth and makes getting up in the night an ordinary movement rather than a maneuver.

Splits into separate pieces
The cot and the air mattress detach and work on their own, so the cot goes indoors as a spare bed and the mattress goes wherever a mattress is useful.

Mesh you can leave open
Zippered mesh panels at both ends let the air move through and keep insects on the other side of it, which matters most on the still nights.

Aluminum frame on non-slip feet
The alloy structure keeps the weight down to 26 lbs for the whole system, and capped feet hold their position on grass rather than sliding out.

Packs to one carry
Poles break into four sections and the fabric folds down beside them, so the full system goes back into a single duffel one person can lift.

Why we chose it

Most people who camp a few times a year end up with a cot that doesn't match a tent that doesn't match a sleeping bag, all bought at different times and stored in different places. We liked this because it removes that problem entirely — one purchase, one bag, and a setup that's the same every time.
