AVORA Summit Family Tent
Eight people, one tent, and enough height in the middle to stand up and put your trousers on. This is the tent that makes a weekend with the whole family feel like staying somewhere rather than squeezing into somewhere.
In everyday use
It pitches from the car with poles, stakes and guylines, and needs no tools. Open, it's just over fourteen feet long and nine wide, with 78 inches of headroom through the center bay — you walk in rather than crawl in. The floor takes several air mattresses or a row of sleeping bags without anyone sleeping against a wall. Warm evenings, roll the panels back: two arched windows on each side and a wide mesh panel above the door turn most of the upper half into screen, with high-density mesh keeping insects out. It packs to 25.6 inches and 17.42 lbs, which is a bag one person carries from the boot.

Why we chose it
A big tent is usually a compromise you feel at 6 a.m., when the roof is eighteen inches above your face. We chose this one for its middle section — a squared bay that lifts the center to 78 inches and carries the door, so the tent has a room you stand in instead of a tunnel you shuffle through. The window count is the other reason. Two arched panels a side plus a wide screen over the door means that on a warm night you can open almost the whole upper half and still keep the insects out, which is the difference between sleeping and lying awake. It's a car-camping tent, and it's honest about that: 17.42 lbs and a 25-inch bag are made for a boot, not a back.
