Two people, one bed, off the ground. Everything for the night arrives in a single bag — the cot, the mattress, the pump, the pillows and the bag you sleep in — so setting up camp stops being a list of things you might have forgotten.

In everyday use

The cot opens out to a full 50 inches wide, which is a real double rather than two singles pushed together, and stands at 25.25 inches — bed height, so you sit on the edge to take your boots off. The air mattress goes on top and fills from the foot pump that comes with it, no batteries and no socket. Two pillows and their cases are in the bag. The sleeping bag zips up as one bag for one person, or opens flat into a blanket wide enough for two. When you're done, the frame folds to 39.25 by 8.75 inches and everything goes back into the same carry bag. Every part works on its own — the mattress on a tent floor, the cot bare, the bag as a blanket indoors.

A genuine double
The bed is 50 inches across and 75.5 long, rated to 352 lbs, so two adults aren't negotiating for space.

The whole night in one bag

Bag or blanket

The deck is PVC-coated oxford over powder-coated metal; the sleeping bag is 190T polyester.

Why we chose it

Camping sleep is normally assembled from four purchases made at four different times, and the result is a mat that doesn't fit the cot and a bag that doesn't fit either. We chose this set because it was designed as one object: the mattress is cut to the deck, the bag is cut to the mattress, and the straps hold the stack together when someone rolls over. Twenty-five inches of height is the detail that changes the trip — it puts the bed at the height of a bed, so getting up in the night is standing rather than climbing. It goes back into one bag, which is the only honest test of a set like this.
