AVORA Summit Backpack 50L

Everything you need for four days, on your back, with your hands free. This is the pack that turns a trip into a walk — one bag that carries the boots, the laptop and the water bottle, and sits close enough to the spine that you stop thinking about it by the second mile.

In everyday use

It loads from the top and again from the front, so you're not unpacking the whole bag to reach something at the bottom. The shoes go in their own compartment, away from clothes. A padded sleeve inside takes a laptop, which is what makes this a bag for the trip out as well as the trail itself. Bottles sit in stretch mesh on either side, held by a webbing strap so they stay put on a descent. The hip belt has a zip pocket in it for the things you check without stopping. At 61 cm tall on a 20 cm depth it's a tall narrow load rather than a wide one, and the hip belt and sternum strap put most of that weight on your hips.

What sets it apart

Channelled mesh back
The back panel is raised mesh pads with channels cut between them, so the load sits on the pads rather than flat against you.

Hip belt with a pocket
The padded hip belt buckles at the front and carries its own zip pocket, at hand without taking the pack off.

Its own compartment for shoes
A separate zip compartment keeps boots away from everything else in the bag.

Padded laptop sleeve
A padded sleeve inside the main compartment takes a laptop, so the same bag covers the journey and the walk.

Trekking pole attachment
A bungee loop at the top and a webbing loop at the base on each side hold poles against the body of the pack.

Reflective strip
A reflective strip runs across the front panel, picking up headlights on a roadside stretch after dark.

Compression on both sides
Side straps pull a half-full pack in tight so the load doesn't move.

Why we chose it

There is a kind of trip that isn't quite a hike and isn't quite a journey — a train, then a road, then a path, then somewhere you sleep. Most packs are built for one of those three. We chose this one because it handles all of them without an apology: a separate space for muddy boots, a padded sleeve for a laptop, poles on the outside, and a hip belt that actually transfers weight when the last part is uphill. The two-tone paneling is practical rather than decorative — the lighter sections run exactly where a pack scuffs. It's a lot of bag for the money, and the honest way to say that is that it does four jobs adequately rather than one job perfectly.
