In everyday use

It's three pieces and they're all small — a 25-inch chair, a 17-inch table, nothing that needs a room to itself. The chairs sit low at 13 inches with the table at 18, so it's a place to put a coffee and a book rather than a plate of dinner. Everything folds. When the weather turns or you need the space back, the chairs and the table flatten and go against a wall. It comes out of the box and goes together in about ten minutes, with no tools and no screws.

Why we chose it

Small-space outdoor furniture usually fails one of two ways: it's small but flimsy, or it's solid and then you can't put it anywhere in November. This set answers both. The frames are steel and rated to 353 lbs a chair, and the whole thing still folds flat enough to live behind a door out of season. We chose the low version deliberately — a bistro set at dining height turns a balcony into a canteen, while this one turns it into somewhere you'd sit for an hour with nothing planned.
