Avora Ember Table Grill
AVORA Ember Table Grill
A grill that travels flat and stands on the table. Legs fold under, lid clips down, and the whole thing goes in the back of the car at five and a half pounds — which is the difference between cooking over charcoal on a Saturday and meaning to.
In everyday use
Set it on a picnic table, swing the four wire legs down, and it stands clear of the surface. It's long and shallow rather than deep — 19.7 inches end to end, with the coals close under the grate, which is the right geometry for sausages, skewers and chops rather than for a joint. Seven vents give you the control: two rotating discs in the lid with six holes between them, and a sliding vent on the front face. Open them to bring it up, close them down to hold it. The lid lifts off completely and the top handle carries the whole grill once it's cool.
What sets it apart
Folds to a flat pack
The wire legs fold against the body. Packed, it's 16.93 × 11.42 × 5.12 in — flatter than most cool boxes.
5.51 lbs
Light enough to carry in one hand alongside everything else, which is the reason it actually goes with you.
Seven vents
Six holes across two rotating lid discs, plus a sliding vent on the front. Airflow at the top and at the fire.
Two racks, not one
A charcoal mesh under the fire and a grill mesh over it — both lift out for cleaning.
Handles on three sides
One on the lid for carrying, one on each end of the body.
Iron body and grate
Both the box and the cooking grate are iron, in a red-on-black finish.
Why we chose it
The portable grill most people own is either too small to feed anyone or too heavy to bring. This one is shaped by a single decision — go long and shallow instead of deep — and everything follows from it: it packs flat, it weighs five pounds, and it still gives you a run of grate long enough for a proper round of food. The vents matter more than the size, though. Seven of them, adjustable by hand, on a grill this small is unusual, and it's what turns a fire in a box into something you can actually cook on.
One thing to know before you order: it arrives flat and needs assembling. Feet, handles and vent panels all fit with the screws supplied.
