Avora Camp Table Pro

It comes out of a bag the size of a rolled newspaper and it's standing in about a minute. Then it's the surface everything happens on — the stove, the cups, the cards after dark.

Details

In everyday use

The top rolls rather than folds, so the whole table packs down to a tube you carry in one hand or slide down the side of a pack. Setting it up takes no tools: open the frame, hook the basket on, press the top into its slots. That basket is the part you'll end up relying on — a deep fabric pocket slung under the table that takes 11 lbs of the things that otherwise sit in the dirt. Phone, headtorch, a bottle, the bag of something everyone keeps reaching for. At 15.94 in tall it meets a camp chair at the right height.

Two sizes: the smaller for one, the larger for two or three.

What sets it apart

Rolls into a bag you carry one-handed
The slatted top rolls up with the frame — 27 in of bag for the M, 28 in for the L, and around 2.6 to 3.7 lbs either way.

A basket where the empty space was
The hanging 210D Oxford basket takes 11 lbs and keeps the small things off the ground.

33 lbs on top
Enough for a stove and a full pot, or everything four people are eating from.

No tools, six steps
Frame open, basket in, fasteners tightened, top pressed into its slots. Nothing to lose in the grass.

Coated top that rinses off
The tabletop has a coating you can wipe or rinse rather than scrub.

Rubber pads on every foot
Anti-slip pads on the X-frame keep it planted on decking or a smooth rock.

Why we chose it

A packable table is only worth carrying if it earns its space twice — once as a surface, once as storage. This one does. Most tables in this class give you a top and four legs and leave the ground to do the rest of the work; the hanging basket here is the difference between a tidy pitch and a scatter. It's low, light and quick, and it rolls into something you'd actually be willing to strap to a pack. Choose the smaller for a solo trip, the larger when there are three of you and it has to hold the meal.

I've spent years balancing my morning mug on a log, so this table felt like a small luxury. It unfolds in about thirty seconds with no tools, and the aluminum frame feels sturdier than the weight suggests. The slatted top handles a stove and a mug without wobbling, and the rubber feet gripped the pine needles and loose dirt better than I expected.

The surprise favorite is the basket underneath. It swallows a water bottle, snacks, a headlamp and a fuel canister, so the tabletop stays clear, and nothing gets lost in the dark. It all packs into the carry bag and disappears into the side of my pack.

I'm holding back one star because the tabletop is on the small side, so the medium really suits one person, and I'd go for the large if you cook for two or more. The slats also let small items like spoons and tent stakes slip through, so a mat or a cutting board helps.
