Avora Basecamp Stove Pro
AVORA Basecamp Stove Pro
Lift the lid, drop in a canister, turn the dial. There's a click, then a blue ring, and dinner is twenty minutes away. It's the simplest piece of equipment you'll take, and the one you'll use every single trip.
In everyday use
It takes a standard 220–250 ml butane canister, which slides into the bay along the side and locks with a lever — no tools, no assembly, nothing to lose in the grass. The knob runs from a low simmer to full, so it handles a slow pot of something as readily as a fast boil. When you're done it goes back into its own moulded case and stacks flat in the crate. It will also run from a standard propane cylinder if that's what you have at the site.
What sets it apart
Butane or propane
Takes a 220–250 ml butane canister for portability, or connects to a standard propane cylinder when you're set up somewhere longer.
Ignition built in
Automatic piezo ignition — turn the dial past ON and it lights. No matches, nothing else to pack.
Overpressure valve
An overpressure protection valve is fitted, specified to release above 5–7 kgf/cm², eject the canister and cut the gas flow.
Locking canister lever
The canister lever has a positive LOCK and UNLOCK position, so it seats the same way every time.
Enamelled pan support
A four-arm enamelled support that wipes clean and holds a pan steady rather than letting it slide.
Carries in its own case
The moulded clamshell case is part of the package — the stove travels closed and comes out clean.
Why we chose it
There's very little to say about a stove that works, which is the point. This one lights on the first turn, simmers as well as it boils, takes either fuel you're likely to have, and closes into a case you can carry in one hand. Nothing about it needs learning. It's the piece of kit that stays in the crate between trips and is simply there when the light goes and everyone starts looking at you about dinner.
