AVORA Horizon Pavilion

It starts raining at seven and nobody moves. That's the whole point of putting a roof over a corner of the garden — the evening stops depending on the weather.

In everyday use

It stands just over 13 feet by 9 feet 8 inches at the eaves, with 145 by 105.5 inches of clear space between the legs and 78.75 inches of headroom under the edge. That's a dining table and chairs, or a sofa arrangement, or a hot tub, with room to walk around it. The roof is galvanized steel over a powder-coated aluminum frame — a fixed hardtop, not a canvas canopy, so it stays up through the season rather than coming down before every forecast. Curtains and mesh zip on between the posts, and both come off entirely when you want it open. It anchors to either soft or hard ground with the stakes and screws in the box.

What sets it apart

Galvanized steel hardtop
A fixed steel roof on a curved barrel profile, not a fabric canopy.

Powder-coated aluminum frame
Four posts with exposed corner bracing, finished in coffee brown.

Three ways to use it
Curtains drawn for shade and privacy, mesh zipped for an insect-free room, or both tied back for an open-air frame.

Curtains that fasten properly
Each panel hangs on loops, closes on a two-way zipper, and ties back with a hook-and-loop strap.

A hook at the apex
The roof plate carries a hook for a light or a lantern.

Anchors to any ground
Twelve L-shaped stakes for soft ground and twelve expansion screws for hard, both in the box.

Why we chose it

The choice with a garden shelter is between something you put up for an afternoon and something that becomes part of the house. This is the second kind. A steel roof and an aluminum frame mean it doesn't get packed away, and once a structure stays up all season the space underneath starts getting used for things you'd never carry a canopy out for — a Tuesday dinner, a morning with a laptop, somewhere for the table to live. We chose the barrel roof over the peaked shape for a plain reason: it sits lower against a house and a hedge line, and it doesn't read as a marquee.
