In everyday use

It's 60 by 80 inches, which is a twin bed's worth — enough to cover one person completely with room to spare, or to go over the end of a bed and stay there. One side is long charcoal pile, the other is a short cream one, so it works either way up depending on whether you want the weight against you or the softness. Folded, it sits on the arm of a chair without looking like laundry. It's the size of thing that migrates: sofa, fire pit, bed, back again.

Why we chose it

A throw earns its place by being reached for without thinking, and that comes down to two things: size and hand. Most throws fail the first test — they're 50 by 60, which covers your knees and nothing else. This one is a genuine twin, so it works on the bed as well as on the terrace. The two-sided construction is the other reason we picked it. A single-faced throw only ever feels one way; this one gives you a choice, and the cream reverse keeps it from reading as heavy in a light room.
