In everyday use

It's just under 79 inches long, which puts three people on it without anyone perching. The seat sits at 13 inches — low, closer to a daybed than a dining chair — and the back cushion is 7.1 inches deep, so you end up leaning back rather than sitting up. The arms are solid woven panels that curve down toward the front, low enough to rest against and wide enough to put a glass on. It arrives flat and needs assembling. Once it's built, it stays where you put it.

What sets it apart

Hand-woven PE rattan over a steel frame
The frame is powder-coated steel and the weave over it is hand-woven PE rattan, in a natural tone that reads warm against paving and planting.

Sloped woven arms
Both arms are solid panels of the same weave, curving down from the back to the front rather than standing square.

A 7.1-inch back cushion
Deep enough to sink into, which is what decides whether people stay out after the food is gone.

Vertical cotton padding
The seat cushions are built with vertical cotton padding rather than loose fill.

Covers that unzip
Every cushion cover comes off.

Adjustable foot pads
The feet adjust, so the sofa settles level on paving that isn't.

Why we chose it

Long outdoor sofas usually make you choose between a shape that looks right and a seat you can actually stay in. This one gets both, and the arms are the reason — sweeping them down toward the front drops the visual weight of a 79-inch piece and leaves the profile low and open. We chose it in natural tone because it disappears into a terrace rather than announcing itself, and because gray cushions on honey weave is a combination that still looks considered three summers in. Two striped pillows come with it, and they're the only pattern in the whole piece.
